Basecamp is the ultimate blank piece of paper

Now that Basecamp has moved to a per-user pricing model, I think this is the best time for many single-user/small businesses to look into it to see how they can save time and money by implementing it into their workflow.

Summary

Basecamp changed to per user pricing, which is perfect for solo workers and small clients like mine. Basecamp is a blank piece of paper that can do anything, so you can run your whole business from it, even use it as a CRM. It’s the only tool I’ll use to communicate with clients on bigger projects. Now that pricing is per seat, it’s a no-brainer for coaches and consultants.

Raw

Yesterday, Basecamp announced that they were going to go per user pricing rather than one fixed price unlimited users. Now, I use Basecamp with my clients and I work on my own. So the new pricing model is perfect for me. And in fact, it’s perfect for a lot of my clients. And many of my clients didn’t want to use it because it was too expensive for them. I don’t think it is. I don’t think it was. I don’t think it is because of the tool set that you get with them.

The thing is now that it’s gone per user, most of my clients who are much smaller, will be able to use it. And why do I harp on about Basecamp all the time? Because Basecamp is such an amazing blank sheet of paper that you can do anything with. It’s one of those tools that people get intimidated by it because it’s so simple. Even I did way back when, I saw it at Basecamp 2, moved over to Basecamp 3, and when Basecamp 3 came basout, I started using it professionally personally for me. I was using Basecamp 2 with other companies. And again, it’s such a simple tool that people get intimidated by it because it’s like a blank piece of paper.

If you’ve got a blank piece of paper, like an A4 piece of paper, you can do anything with it. You can make ducks with it. You can make swans with it. You can write an essay on it. You can write a screenplay on a piece of paper. You can make airplanes, different types of airplanes. There’s so many things you can do with a blank piece of paper, A4. And I think Basecamp is exactly the same. It’s that blank piece of paper that you can do a lot with.

Where people make a mistake is that they don’t understand how. how that blank piece of paper can get to do what they want it to do. And that’s where people like me come in, consultants come in and help you out. But it’s such an amazing tool because it’s not one tool. This is the thing. There’s so many different tools within a Basecamp that you can do a lot with and you can run your whole business from it.

Now, it’s not a CRM. Let me get that out of the way. daylight is the CRM, pipe drive is a CRM, so on and so forth the CRMs. However, because of that whole blank piece of paper-esque thing going on with Basecamp, you could effectively use it as a CRM. And I did for many, many months, and it works just fine. Where it lacks on the CRM front, there’s many little things. I won’t get into technicalities of it. But the fact that you can do a lot with Basecamp, I think, opens doors for a lot of users out there that I personally think should use it because it gets rid of so many different tools like chat and email, for instance.

It’s the only tool I will ever use to communicate with my clients when I’m working on bigger projects. There is no other tool that works as good as that. Yes, there’s Asada, yes, there’s height. Yes, there’s all of these other apps, Trello, so on. But the way they work is too complicated. The way Basecamp works, even if the client doesn’t want to use Basecamp, they’re still using it because of the email functionality with it.

Anyway, if you have any questions, let me know about it because I love Basecamp and I think you should use it. And now they’ve gone per user, per seat. People like me who work on their own, people like you who pretty much work on your own. That’s who my audience is effectively. It’s a no-brainer. And I think if you’re running a coaching, consulting, small business, it’s something to definitely take a look at now.

Anyway, have a great day. If you need any questions answered, is that right? Yeah. There’ll be a link somewhere here and there’s comments below. Anyway, have a great day and I’ll see you in the next one.
