You can learn anything, like I learned to fix my Blazer, but that doesn’t make you a pro. My architect client could do his own IT, but hiring me saves him mental space so he can focus on clients. Sometimes it’s best to hire a pro for stuff you just don’t need to deal with.

We’re all fully aware that we can learn things. We can learn something that we don’t know, whether it’s copywriting or designing, being a mechanic, being a photographer, whatever it is, we can always learn it. We’re never a pro at it unless we do it for many, many years, but we can always learn something.

I’m in my blazer at the moment, and the reason I’m in it is because I learned how to do certain things, how to build the LPRs, system, how to build, rebuild part of the engine, how to take out seats, for instance. I mean, it sounds easy with four bolts, but there are issues you need to go through. So you can learn anything and you can actually do it.

I’m here in Amsterdam with my blazer. It’s the first video in my blazer actually, so happy birthday blazer. I’m here in this blazer because I learned how to fix things, from a very good friend and without him I wouldn’t been able to do it so learning the things learning those skills will always enable you to be able to do anything. So me being in Amsterdam with my blazer in fact the reason I’m in my blazer is because I just came from a prospective client that’s actually a client of mine. We’ve worked together in the past. He’s got a new company, is an architect and he wants a new IT guy, IT department.

He’s not happy with the service that is receiving from this bigger company. And I asked him, well, why don’t you do it yourself? Because I know you can do this. It’s not a big company. There’s only five of you.

And he said, I can learn more, but I’m not a pro at it. So, for instance, I learned how to install the element. LPG in this car, but I’m no pro at it. I wouldn’t be able to do it for someone else. So that single point of, you know, hiring a pro is different to being able to learn something to be able to do it.

There are pros and people who can do things because they want to do things. Now, again, we can all learn how to put, install LPG. We can all learn how to take out drive shafts and mess around with gears. We can all learn how to do the electrics and a car, but you wouldn’t be able to do that as a pro, but it’s always good to learn how to do these things, especially if you’re interested in them.

So for him to hire me as an external IT guy, it actually just saves him becoming a pro. It saves him mental space so he can actually help his clients better and easier. Because there’s no, the worst thing is having a business and dealing with shit that you just don’t need to deal with. You just hire someone that can do it better than you can. And in fact, that’s what he said. And I thought it was a great piece of insight to share.

So if you need a mechanic, because you can’t do it, you’re too busy to do it, go and hire a mechanic. If you need an IT guy, even though you can do it yourself, sometimes it’s best just to hire me. Hire an IT guy.
