Before it gets too complicated, simplify

We don’t wake up one day to declare we want to complicate our lives. It’s a gradual thing that happens.

And it happens while we’re busy working or living our lives. But once we feel burnout coming, we seek a solution to fix it.

Summary

I was in a Clubhouse room about LinkedIn and nearly every speaker ended up talking about simplicity. One person mentioned creating complexity before simplifying. But most people don’t do that on purpose, they just get burnt out and realise things are complicated. Having everything simplified lifts the weight off your shoulders and lets you get more done without chasing your tail.

Raw

Yesterday I was in a clubhouse room, which was really good. It was about LinkedIn.

But on the sign-off, it seemed like all the speakers who were signing off, they all alluded to one single thing, and that being simplicity. They were basically all kind of saying, keep it simple, simplify, make sure everything is simple. And I’m kind of, I’m happy about the fact that everyone is trying to understand. simplifying everything makes things much better. I mean, I talk about this all the time.

However, one person, one of the speakers actually talked about understanding or creating complexity before you simplify. Now, whether that’s intentional or unintentional, I think usually it’s unintentional that people don’t go around. I don’t think this is what he was alluding to but it was a good point. They was making because people don’t create complexity because they want to create it, there are there are a small amount of people that do that. But the general populist don’t say I’m going to make everything complicated, what generally happens is that they work they do things and then after a while they get burnt out and realise that they’ve made everything complicated.

And for those people, they already know that there’s a problem. Because they go and try to find someone like me or Marie Kondo that came up in the room as well to simplify everything, to make everything organised to, yeah, just to simplify their lives and their work. So it was interesting how five other speakers in that room all alluded to simplify, all alluded to making sure everything is simple.

So again, complexity may work for some, and that’s an absolute minority. But to be honest, if you have everything simplified, you’ll notice that the weight is off your shoulders, you can get more stuff done. You can get more clients if you want. I don’t want loads of clients. So I get enough clients to pay and do the things I want to do and live my life because life is, I said it before, life is more important than work. Work needs to be done. But life over work, not work over life.

Anyway, hopefully that helps. If you have any questions, you know where to find me. There’ll be a link here, whatever. And make sure you follow me on social media. I’m on Instagram now, you know. I’ll put the link below. Have a great day.
