Change can be difficult

Apple released iOS16 last night, and many things changed in the system. This annoyed me a little, but it got easier once I started to adapt to the new features. But like many others, I found it hard to adjust when I initially upgraded.

Summary

I find change difficult, but I understand it enables learning. Apple released iOS 16 today and I got irritated because things changed, but after playing with it, it started to make sense. Companies listen to the loudest people and make things more complicated than they need to be. We just have to (unfortunately at times) adapt to change.

Raw

I’m one of those people that find it difficult to change. I like things the way they are. I understand that changing actually enables you to learn new things and progress in a different direction. I mean, I’ve changed direction many times. And as you’ve probably seen, my website has changed. My services have changed. So that change, I understand.

But there are many people that actually do really hate change in technology because they’re so used to the way that thing works, their app works, their phone works, the system works. They get annoyed with change. They, even though the change will help them, it actually annoys them more the fact that, that they have to learn something new.

I think we all kind of have that. I had that this morning because Apple released iOS 16. And I jumped in. I always like jumping in and playing things around, playing with things. And I don’t install beta software on my devices at all. Even on my test devices, I just, I hate, hate now installing, beta software because it just irritates me.

So I want to work and I want to help my clients. I don’t want to fuff around with things that might not be there when it’s released. I just can’t be bothered with it anymore.

So I installed iOS 16 today and I got so irritated with something. And I effectively jumped the gun. I wrote a tweet and I just deleted it because it was so stupid. Because I didn’t really think about going in. and playing with that change, like understanding that change.

Now, the issue was the lock screen and the fonts and stuff like that. So, again, I am one of those people that do like to change things, but I’m also a person that I actually don’t want to change because I like everything the way it was. But once you get into it, it does make sense.

And even though some…

The thing is, companies live, listen to the people who shout the loudest. And that just irritates me because it’s like all these tech guys like, we want this, we want this, we want this. And it’s generally not really the right idea. I personally think now Apple being the simple thing and it just works, I think that’s out of the window now because they’ve just made things way more complicated that things need to be.

But things change and we have to adapt to that change. So, I get it.

Kind of a bit of a Monday. No, it’s not Monday. It’s Tuesday. It’s not even Monday. It’s kind of a little Tuesday rent about Apple changing things. But things do change, and that change generally is a good thing, but there are probably minor things in that change that you and I probably won’t like, but we have to adapt to it.

Anyway, have a great day. Keep it simple, unlike Apple right now. And I’ll see you in the next video. Ciao.
