Complexity creates complications
When a complex issue needs to be addressed, the simpler the solution, the better it would be.
However, many don’t apply this method, so somehow, the solution becomes a convoluted, complicated and diabolical mess.

Summary
Software companies complicate simple things when they update. iOS 16 is a good example, they made the lock screen so complex you have to create a new screen just to change the font. The sweet spot is simplifying a complex issue without adding complications. Step back and see what you can take out of your own system.

Have you noticed that every time something gets upgraded or some new app comes about, that basically takes over from another app, they tend to complicate the process of specific things. And I find that that complexity creates the complications that people have using that app or using that service.
Case in point, in my yesterday’s video, I was talking about the new Apple iOS and how they’ve, I think they’ve complicated a complex issue. Now, when you have a complex issue, the point of it is to create it so simply that it doesn’t become complicated. But I find, I found, I should say, that the iOS 16 for certain things, even though it’s, It looks great. There’s new features. I get it. But I think that that complexity of them trying to make things simpler have actually created more complications. I mean, there’s no other way of putting it.
And I find many software companies do this. As I said, whether it’s a new app trying to take over from an old app or whether it’s an app that’s just trying to update. The sweet spot is taking the complex issue and not complicating it, but making it so simple that there is no difference as to the way it worked before, but you’re actually getting many more features, many more feature sets and being able to do more with it. But that doesn’t always happen. And we have to understand that whenever a feature comes out, doesn’t necessarily mean we have to use it.
For instance, going back to the iOS 16, they have this new screen lock thing. There’s so many things you can put on it. Being a Tech Minimalist, my screen is exactly the same as it was. I just can’t stand this font. And to change this font, I’ve got to create a new screen. So again, it’s complicated, the simple, the simplicity. of what Apple used to be. And I think they’ve got to go back to the drawing board of this.
So creating a complex, simplifying a complex issue shouldn’t create complications because that just creates havoc in the brains of the customers and the people using that service app or whatever. Think about your system. Think about how complex it is. maybe you can take things out. I do it all the time. Every time I come up with a, I want to use a app or a service, I use it and then step back and think, wait a minute, this is just creating more complications for the complex issue, but there are simple ways, simple ways to fix that complex issue without creating it, without making it really complicated.
There’s a tongue twister of an episode. Anyway, have a great day. As always, keep it. simple and I will see you in the next one. Ciao.
