I wish things just worked!
More often than not, nothing works out of the box. It’s annoying, frustrating and a massive time suck! But once you understand the issue and know what you need out of the tech you use, then life becomes easier.

Summary
I hate when things don’t work, and yesterday my live stream equipment drove me insane because it. Not everything works out of the box, so you have to step back and troubleshoot step by step. Same with business software, you need to understand your process before expecting plug and play.

I’m one of those people that have to make sure everything is working. I hate when things don’t work. I hate it when people don’t do their jobs. I hate it when things don’t work. It just baffles me and it basically annoys me.
So when yesterday, when I bought a bunch of equipment for my live stream, I plugged it all up and it just didn’t work. And it drove me insane for like two hours while I was live streaming. So I was talking to people on the live stream to figure out how, why on earth, is this not working? It just drove me insane.
And that’s usually the case with anything technical, because I’m a technical guy, right? I can make these things work. I’m a problem solver. That’s what I get hired for. That’s the kind of work that I’ve done for the past 30 years. So when something so simple as in you plug it in and it works doesn’t work, I go absolutely crazy.
But the thing is, we have to understand that not everything will work the first time. And I know this. Obviously, I know this yesterday because I was on the live stream. I was just going crazy and effing and blinding. But we have to realise that not everything will work out of the box. And that’s why we have professionals that come in and help.
So, for instance, you go and buy a doorknob for your door, for instance, and you try to, you take the old one out, you put the old one and you think it’s plug and play, but something has changed because you’ve had that doer knob there for years. And obviously, the factory has changed something. So you need to get a professional in generally to come and help you do it. So it’s not a case of plug and play always.
So this thing yesterday should have been plug and play and it just wasn’t. And I thought, I’m just going to sleep on it. I was effing and blinding for like two hours on stream as well. It’s just the way it is. But I got it working. I managed to get it working, but only by stepping back and thinking about, okay, let’s start from the beginning.
The whole point of things not working is process of elimination. So you’ve got to go through it step by step by step to make sure that. those steps are correct and why it went wrong. Now I understand why it went wrong. And it’s such a simple, goddamn stupid thing, the reason why it went wrong. But because I’ve taken those steps, and because, yeah, I’m a problem solver, that’s what I do, I got it working.
So just because you can get a piece of software off the shelf and you think it’s a plug and play, oh, let’s just use this time. task manager or calendar or planner, you’ve got to understand how you work and you’ve got to understand how the, what your process is before you can get these tools. It’s a really weird roundabout way of talking about this, about software, but it’s just the way it is. Not everything will work out of the box and you just need to make sure you step back, chill, go back into it, figure it out, and hey, presto, it’ll work again.
Anyway, have a great day, and I’ll see you in the next one. Ciao. Bye.
