Summary

You can’t coach or mentor via email, and text doesn’t convey mannerisms or facial expressions. That’s why I make videos, so people can see how I mean what I’m saying. People should use video a lot more because you’ll get your point across better.

Raw

I fear that we are losing the art of conversation.

We talk with our eyes, our face, our mannerisms, our hands, I do it all the time. And I have a feeling, or I have this feeling that all these people that are advocating for it should be an email. They don’t quite understand the conversation part, in the human contact part, I’m a remote worker. I work remotely obviously, but I do you know one-on-one calls.

So I have to see the person. So when you’re coaching, you can’t coach via email. You can’t mentor via email. You can probably consult via email, but that doesn’t always work. And besides that, email is useless. Use base camp or something similar.

But the art of conversation, I hope doesn’t get And I hope people understand that there are times to have a conversation, not meetings. There’s a difference between meetings with lots of people and wasting a bunch of time. But having conversations, having that way of speaking, the way you get certain things across, you cannot do that with text.

Actually a friend of mine who texts a lot with friends often comes to me and says, I’m so pissed off because they’ve said this. But again, the conversation doesn’t, a conversation doesn’t happen via text. It doesn’t happen via sitting behind a keyboard, etc. It’s useless.

Don’t lose that art of conversation. This is the reason why I make videos, because I want people to understand and see how, how I mean what I’m saying rather than just reading something off a page.

You know reading is good and if there’s a way that you can express certain things maybe you can do it. But we don’t have time to read a novel in an email or whatever and having that having those mannerisms those facial expressions mean a lot.

And that’s why I like video that’s why I like doing video. And I think people should start using video a lot more because you’ll get your point across better.
