I contacted Kia a week ago for the first time as I was looking for a Mac specialist. First of all to solve some performance issues with my MacBook Pro.‍

Secondly, I am looking for someone to assist me in eventually making the full switch from windows to Mac. I found him truly friendly and professional. And I love the fact that he doesn’t “sell” technology but advises on your personal needs/requirements.‍

Na een telefoontje kon ik binnen een uur terecht. MacJunky is bevlogen en erg kundig. Gelukkig bleek er weinig mis met mijn Mac dus stond ik binnen een kwartiertje weer buiten.

The Apple genius had no time for me and the Apple reseller told me I would not see my MacBook for 2 weeks. In despair, I looked on Google and found MacJunky who happened to be around the corner.‍

An appointment was made very quickly, consult was to the point and a day later my crashed MacBook was up-and-running again. Aftercare was very good: the hard drive gave a rare error, so Kia changed the hard drive while I waited without extra costs.‍

Sorry geniuses and resellers, you won’t see me again, I’ll go to MacJunky!

After months of frustration, useless hours and days trying to get our in-house wifi network installed and after spending money on network links which didn’t work, Kia fixed it all in one day.‍

As we work from home and our children are online all day, our network is key. We never managed to get the proper IT people in before. Kia knows what he is doing.‍

We needed someone to assess the complex situation in our old large house with an expert eye and sort it out. After coming in and taking a deep dive into our installed systems and wiring, Kia analysed the options and sent us out with a detailed list of products to buy - as agreed beforehand - within the hour, while he started working.‍

At the end of the day all laptops, tablets, telephones, TV and scanners were connected and could see each other, wifi (streaming speed) in all rooms and in the office, and even my complicated e-mail server settings and all provider connections were sorted. Which even the experts from the Amsterdam Apple store on the first floor hadn’t been able to help me with.‍

You may ask why you need someone to come all the way from Amsterdam to your house and why you would spend so much money, as I did. Don’t hesitate, ask Kia to come out.‍

Make sure to have all passwords and provider information ready before he comes in. Be available while he is working, as you know your house best.

MacJunky, Kia, heeft een zeer adequate analyse gemaakt van de storing op mijn MacBook pro. Hij is is snel en hulpvaardig, ik kan bij hem terecht voor mijn vragen en voor een snelle oplossing van mijn Mac-probleem (in dit geval bleek het een probleem met het moederbord te zijn). Ik kon er op wachten terwijl hij mijn Mac analyseerde: harddrive/ software aansturing van de Mac/ moederbord.‍

MacJunky is makkelijk te bereiken, parkeren vlak voor zijn bedrijf geen probleem (handig als je met Mac’s moet slepen) en ook nog hulp achteraf als jouw (in dit geval mijn) Mac de werkplaats van Kia weer verlaten heeft en eenmaal thuis toch nog wat instellingen gecheckt moeten worden: via Teamviewer kijkt en handelt Kia op afstand en helpt door mijn cursor op afstand over te nemen om de instellingen te perfectioneren.‍

Voor ieder die niet elke keer de tocht naar een Apple store wil maken is MacJunkie een professionele troubleshooter!!

Kia was available quickly and cleaned out the dust MacBook pro retina while giving some advice regarding clean installs and beta software.‍

He basically stopped me from buying a new MacBook (twice), and saved me a lot of money!

I came to Kia with a failed internal drive that was deemed a lost cause by everyone else. Of course, I hadn’t backed up my computer and I had very important documents on the computer that I had not stored anywhere else or even e-mailed to myself.‍

Have encountered Kia at his first start in 2007 in Amsterdam. The trouble with lost photograph files was a first quick result.‍

Over the years he helped to transfer/restart and upgrade 3 generations of apple machines. The latest, issue was a blackout of my Mac 27inch master machine.

Frustrated, I contacted Kia at MacJunky to discuss some connectivity solutions. His advice? “@#!*^^?! that solution” invest on TimeCapsule + Airport Express.

‍It’s the best thing out there at the moment.“So I followed: I went to the expensive Apple solution. It is @#!*^^ expensive indeed, but it does work like a charm.

‍No double WiFi networks (as NetGear was creating between modem and extender), seamless transition from one base to another, NAS and USB printer all hidden in the tiny office in the attic, 2 floors away from my 2nd-floor apartment. Constant audio streaming to WiFi speakers regardless of where my source is :-)

‍I’ve tried different brands, cheaper solutions, combining hardware or even modem and extender from NetGear… nothing worked. Does anyone need a NetGear WiFi extender?

Kia takes time to listen to your problem even before you decide to pay him a visit! A true MacJunky. ;-)‍

My problem was solved within hours. I could bring my Powerbook even in weekend hours and pick it up at a time most stores are closed.

Not being able to miss my Mac for a long time due to deadlines and other appointments he was a true lifesaver to me.‍

My MacBook Air’s SSD broke down 6 months ago. Kia replaced it but broke down again a couple of weeks ago. He changed it completely for free.‍

Inmiddels al weer bijna 7 jaar geleden maar toch het vermelden waard. Mijn eerste dochter was geboren. Hele mooie en onvervangbare foto’s gemaakt. Na een week gaf de schijf van mijn MacPro de geest. Ik in paniek!‍

Nu heb ik wel wat ervaring met Macs en het restoren van schijven maar dit keer kreeg ik het ook niet voor elkaar.‍

Na een tijdje Googlen kwam ik terecht bij MacJunky. In het weekend gebracht en 2 dagen daarna keurig alle data op een nieuwe schijf gezet. En dat voor een fractie van de prijs die je normaal gesproken betaald.‍

Nog steeds heel dankbaar dus!

Het zag er naar uit dat mijn iMac de geest ging geven: langzaam, nog langzamer, geen verbinding met internet, niet werkende programma’s.

Een paar jaar geleden had Kia mij al geholpen met het opzetten van een thuisnetwerk. Zijn telefoonnummer en mailadres zaten nog in mijn telefoon.

Mac bij hem gebracht en de eerste analyse bleek ook meteen de goede te zijn. Met wat nieuwe onderdelen, een software update en een groter geheugen - plus alle data keurig bewaard - werkt ze weer als een nieuwe machine.

En dat voor een uiterst schappelijke prijs.

Thanks to Google I found MacJunky. One short phone call and Kia invited me to visit him early on Sunday morning.‍

The problem was less severe than anticipated and Kia got my MacBook up and running again in just 20 minutes whilst we were having a nice chat, at no charge! Where do you find such a service these days?!‍

I know who is under my speed dial when things get ugly with my Mac products in the future! All-in-all, Kia is best in class, best in town, and best in the country!‍

Nou daar was dan het moment aangebroken: met de handen in het haar en volledig in paniek daar ik geen backup van mijn mac had gemaakt en slechts een wit scherm aanschouwde.

‍Na even te hebben Goggled vond ik de site van MacJunky en tussen de reviews een bericht van iemand die ik als zeer betrouwbaar aanmerk. Meteen maar op de voicemail ingesproken en voordat ik ook nog een mail kon versturen werd ik reeds terug gebeld en gerust gesteld.

Vandaag mocht ik langskomen (in de avond, lekker handig als je werkt) Kia ontving mij hartelijk ondanks dat ik wat later dan afgesproken was gearriveerd. Hij zou mijn Mac in het weekend onderhanden nemen, maar zou terwijl ik mijn gegevens ging invullen alvast even kijken.

‍Tot mijn verbazing was hij eerder klaar dan ik en hoefde ik niets af te rekenen. Dat niet afrekenen vind ik vrij uniek, maar ook de wijze waarop Kia mij behandelde, niet als een dummy, maar vooral geruststellend en adviserend is een verademing in een tijd waar het vooral om het scoren gaat.

‍Zijn adviezen neem ik ter harte en zal nog dit weekend een harde schijf voor de backup aanschaffen. Echter wat het belangrijkste van alles is: zijn telefoonnummer leg ik vast op alle mogelijke manieren zodat ik die niet kan vergeten.

Kia is the best service provider I have ever had.‍

We were upgrading our server and database program, Daylite. Of course, Apple failed in delivering the server which made it impossible for Kia to come. In spite of the extremely late delivery, Kia made the time over a weekend to install a new server.‍

Transition to Daylite 4 was very tough. Nothing seemed to work. Kia always kept his cool and tried every possible effort to get it working and eventually realised that the network connection [infrastructure] was not functioning properly.‍

He helped us with our new VoIP telephone system, even though that was not his responsibility.

No problem is too small, or question too hard for Kia. He is always there to help his clients. He is the first supplier I ever met that actually cares about his clients and doesn’t only see them as a paycheck.‍
