I’ve been ‘radio silent’ for a little while, so here’s an update…

You may have seen some of my emails/posts while I was in Spain. Man it was a great trip.

Truth be told, I wish I was still there. But alas, I had to come back for a project and to help my cousin build the barn.

I love the fact that that I’m not fixed to a location, so can help where I can and enjoy the moment.

Oh, one little nugget of information about ‘coming back’… the truck broke down in France!

AAGGHH!!

It took me many long walks, 1 coach, 1 bus, 1 taxi, 2 hire cars and 4 days to get back to NL!

I’m waiting for the ANWB to bring the truck back to me so I can work on it. It should be here in a few days.

Yeah annoying, but life is an adventure… so live it!

They need them to assess whether the truck is ‘worth’ the cost of towing it back to Holland.

So fucking pissed about this because they go by year of the vehicle and how many KMs on the clock.

I told them it’s a classic car and worth upwards of 30k, so they’ve asked for photos.

Fucking livid!!

Had early lunch from this place while I wait for ANWB to sort out a hire car for me. Nice fresh French baguette and meat.

After yesterday’s breakdown, maybe this will bring me good luck?

‘Find a penny pick it up, and all day long you’ll have good luck’

Something like that. Let’s hope so. I really could do with some good fortune.

Although, this isn’t a penny, so who the fuck knows!

Today was a travel day and it started really well.

But the truck broke down on the motorway in France as I was making my way back to Den Helder.

Even the solar panel in my view doesn’t ruin it.

I think I’ll stay here for the weekend and start to make my way back to Den Helder on Monday.

Filled up. Saw an awesome Beetle. Filled the gas tank. And found a beautiful place by the trees on hop of a hill to sleep for the night.

Sounds like a gun range below where I am as they’ve been firing off shots since I’ve been here.

I actually don’t mind it!

It’s been a chilled day. Actually looking forward to getting back.

But I wish I could stay longer. Lack of money is the problem.

Many years ago, a client of mine was going through a (non-lethal) health issue.

We spoke about it for a while. And at the end of our conversation, one thing that was said struck me as quite odd.

But I kept it in the back of my mind about things one should, or shouldn’t share in business. Because ‘it could hurt my business’.

Saw some great views. And if you look very carefully, you might see the truck parked on the other side of the valley!

Here’s the thing…

• Weigh the pros agains the cons.

• Marry the person you dislike the least.

• Use tech that works for you, not against you.

So as I sit here in my very warm and comfortable truck while it’s raining, and windy as hell, it makes me think of why the hell would I travel as a nomad like this!

Yesterday, as I pulled up and parked in this tranquil place with no body else around I thought that I was going to hunker down and enjoy this view for at least 2-3 days.

This morning I woke up to an amazing sunrise, deployed the solar panel, and sat on the beach enjoying the moment, and thinking about next steps with my business.

Within an hour or so, the winds picked up. The solar panel almost flew off its anchor points. There was dust and ocean spray all over the place.

I left. Sad, but I left.

You see, no matter what you feel, how you feel it, or what your surrounding are, things change. And they change rapidly, without notice.

Be ready for any and all eventualities!

Below is my reply to John, one of my long time subscribers, about moving to another country and how to deal with how, what, where, when, why etc. It was so good, I just had to share it with you…

I’ve had a few people ask me about power and how I keep my electronics, even my fridge/freezer, powered while I’m nomading in my truck.

Well, it’s via a 400w solar blanket while I’m ‘camped’. And a 1000w DC-to-DC charger while I drive. So I’m never without power.

My cooking is also fully electric. I have an induction stove top and an air fryer that I’ve recently purchased. So between the two, I can eat inside or out.

If there’s a will, there’s a way.

It was DEAD quiet.

You can hear the main motorway, but only if you’re focusing on it.

The only other (non) issue is that there is a bright light in the far distance.

I think it’s the football pitch flood lights, that may be annoying if you don’t cover the window facing it.

Other than that, I think I’ll be coming back to this place for sure!

I’d like to be in Tarifa for Woof!’s birthday (5th Dec)

It also gives me time to be away for a while so I can spend Christmas in the desert in Spain.

If I leave next weekend, I have enough time to get there.
