#time management

Some people see this and panic

Not I.

Life (and work) isn’t a competition to see who’s got the busiest calendar.

Sometimes being still with your thoughts and the ones you love are the only thing one needs.

Yes I do work, everything is within Basecamp. And no, I’m not a bum or ‘billy-no-mates’ I treasure and guard my time with a passion.

Why rush around from meeting to meeting?
Why fill your day with every and any kind of stimulation?
Why be busy with nothing when you can feel the things around you?

That’s not for me. Nor should it be for you.

Yes I get it, we need to keep track of things.

But if you rely on technology to remind you to brush your teeth (yes I have seen this!) then you’ve lost the idea of being a human.

Relax.

P.S. If you really want to simplify your tech, let’s connect.

Apple's simple yet powerful Invites app was released today

I gotta say, I’m pretty impressed with its simplicity so far. It’s very simple to setup and easy for the invitee(s) to interact with.

Here’s the backend…

And on the iPhone…

I will test it a little further before recommending it for anything business related, but it could very well work for coaches and workshop facilitators.

You can download it for the iPhone from the App Store. And it’s also available on Apple’s iCloud.com service on the Web.

Let me know what you think.

Do it properly the first time around

There are many who simply don’t have time to do it right the first time around. However, those are the same people who later regret their decision.

Your time is worth more

On social media, you’ll often come across posts that’ll glamorise what a high-flying entrepreneur does to stay on top. And it’s all horse shit!

•••

FOMO is killing your productivity

The less we have, the more time we have. But having extra time for ourselves doesn’t mean doom-scrolling for fear of missing out.

The importance of not having a job

We all need a purpose; otherwise, we aimlessly drift and waste our time on the mundane. So doing something we enjoy and getting paid for is the ultimate goal.

•••

‘Busyness’ can kill opportunities

Being ‘busy’ can be a double edge sword. On the one hand, it’s great to be working, but on the other, it doesn’t leave time for other urgent things.

•••

I don’t look forward to the weekend

The weekends are great; we let our hair down and do things we would not normally do during the week due to work. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

•••

Stop having meetings

Having too many meetings can be more of a headache than many realise. The best way for you, the team, the project or even the client to know what’s going on is to have a single source of truth.

•••

Making things simpler to have more time

We all want to do many things, but often we don’t have the time to do those things. What if we made things easier and simpler so we can create, or better still, not waste time on silly things to be able to do them?

Be busy doing nothing

Wouldn’t it be great to have all the time in the world to get all your work done? And have so much free time for yourself that you feel so bored being busy doing nothing?

Everyone’s always rushing

After being away in southern Spain, where life is so much slower, on the drive back I’ve realised people are always rushing for no reason. I feel the need to decompress by taking another trip just to relax!

•••

Stop the complexity

We seem to relish complexity. We understand that it’s harmful to us and eats into the finite time we have. But we still pursue this elusive thing called complexity for some reason. Why is that?

Scheduling with SavvyCal

Finding tools, apps and services that make things simple is a passion of mine. Today I want to bring your attention to a scheduling tool called SavvyCal. It’s simple. Clean and makes scheduling easy and personalised.

It’s ok not to know

We can’t all know everything. Now I’m the kind of person interested in learning and actually like, to be able to do everything myself. I’m not a control freak. But I enjoy knowing how to do lots of things. But it’s okay not to know everything.

Giving value to time

Everyone’s time is valuable. But we don’t really think about what that means. And I think I, after 50 odd years, have realised what time means to me.

P.S. If you’re struggling with time in your business, we should talk.

•••

Why I’m never busy

I often emphasise the importance of avoiding the state of being ‘busy’. Yes, there are tasks that need to be done, but constantly being or labelling oneself as ‘busy’ is counterproductive.

•••

Time is your most valuable asset

Time is the most valuable asset you have. So why make yourself busy for mundane tasks when you could spend that time to do the things you love.

Be mindful with your time

The ability to spend your time the way you need to is a superpower, and many don’t quite understand it. And if you give away any of that power to someone else, your day can become a mess.
