Who’s in your corner?

This episode will annoy some, but I have been thinking about who you have behind you when you get great technical information you need to implement.

Summary

Coaches give you a pamphlet, but who’s actually in your corner for tech? Most IT people are pure, utter idiots who don’t communicate well and don’t have your best interest at heart. You need someone in the middle who can implement what the coach tells you.

So this episode might actually ruffle up a few feathers. So bear with me till the end, and I hope you will understand what I’m trying to say. Here’s the metaphor.

So in a boxing match, you have two corners. You have the opponent corner, and you have your corner. And in your corner, you have a coach, advisor, health guy, et cetera, et cetera, to help you win that match. So you have many people in your corner to help you. They are employed by you to give you the best advice, advice possible. That’s the best way to do things.

I’ve never been coached, even though I am a coach. I’ve never been coach. I know many people around me, close friends, family members that have been coached. So I know what that entails. I get it.

But I don’t think what, what doesn’t happen generally, and I wouldn’t say all coaches like this, but generally what happens is that the coach will give you information that you can go and implement. So they will give you, effectively they’re like a pamphlet. Here’s a pamphlet with lots of information because they’ve talked and done a lot of work. And I’m not dismissing what coaches do. I’m just saying this is how I see it.

And then the client, the person, you basically take that information and then go and try to implement it. But who else is in your corner? Think about the boxing match where there are lots of people in your corner. Well, yes, you have to hire these other people. But I would say that they’re probably not in your corner. They’re not necessarily having your best interest at heart, especially when it comes to IT.

This is obviously I’m talking about tech because I’m a tech guy. I’m going to talk about that part of it. Now, again, tech 30 plus years. And I’ve seen lots of different IT people. I’ve seen tech people. I know how they work. Now, 80, 85% of those IT people are pure, utter idiots. They have no idea about how to communicate with people. And I know this resonates. I’m sure this resonates with you. They know nothing about anything other than how, if something goes wrong, how they can fix it.

Now, there are people behind them, who effectively the managers and so on, that kind of know what’s going on. But generally, the IT guy has absolutely no freaking idea what you want. What they do is basically implement the things that they want to implement. So again, going back to the metaphor of the boxing ring, who else is in your corner? Because the IT guy isn’t.

You may think the company is, but again, the company is hiring the IT guy, right? So they’re going to listen to the IT guide. They will listen to you, but they’re generally listening to the IT guy, or we should implement this because this is the way it is. Now, again, this isn’t 100% truth in the sense that everyone does it, but there are way more people that do it that way than actually helping you in your corner.

So whenever it comes to trying to implement something that the coach is telling you, whatever it is, there’s obviously some tech involved. So you’ve got to make sure that you’ve find the right person in your, that will help you in your corner, rather than just an IT guy that you will call up to find. So make sure you have someone in your corner that can help you implement the right things.

Hopefully that hasn’t annoyed many people, coaches and IT people, but that’s how I feel. I don’t feel that many IT people have their clients’ best interest at heart when it comes to implementing things or things that they actually need or things that you would actually need. So make sure you understand who you’re hiring before they implement anything. Because again, the coach will give you the pamphlet, but you need someone in between the pamphlet and the actual work that needs to be done.

I’ve been thinking about that for a while, but I don’t think anyone’s really talked about who’s in the middle between you and the IT guy, basically. Anyway, if you have any questions, let me know. There’ll be a link below. I love to have a chat with you. Get my words. Anyway, keep it simple, and I’ll see you the next one. Ciao. Bye.
