You only need a Rolodex and some Post-its

If I told you there was a way to run your business with Rolodexs and post-it notes, you’d think I was crazy, right?

Well, you’ll be half right because you can run your business with Rolodex and post-its.

If you go back, I mean, when I started my whole career, my working life, back in the late 80s, That’s basically how we were running our business.

We had Rolodex and post-it notes.

And that’s how we were doing stuff, or equivalent to post-it notes.

And that’s how we were doing everything.

We didn’t have computers.

We had a telephone, Rolodex, and some paper and post-it notes and stuff.

So when people say that they need all sorts of different types of software to run their business, It’s not always strictly true.

Now, I’m going to tell you that you probably can get rid of half the apps and the software and the tools and things that you’re using to run your business.

Because if there are people running their businesses with Rolodex’s and Post-it notes, why can’t you basically do the same?

Now, I wouldn’t use a Rolodex in a post-it notes right now.

but the idea is that you can do your bit you can run your business with say Apple Notes or with one app that can do all of these things can do these two things.

There was a time where I got annoyed with software and I got so fed up with Filemaker and everything that I was using and I went to Apple Notes.

And I thought back as to how I was running or how I was working before not running a business, but how I was working before in the small businesses that I was working with.

And it was post-it notes and Rolodex, and it was working fine.

So I went to Apple Notes, used Apple Notes for absolutely everything, and obviously an address book.

And that was all I needed.

And funny enough, I can’t see a reason why I shouldn’t do that.

So you need to understand how the process is with your business and then find the tools to fit.

Whereas what I find is that people go and get tools because they’re told from different people from different areas and use these tools and then suddenly realise nothing is working because they haven’t thought about the process.

They’ve thought about, oh, I need to go and get these tools.
