Summary
Email is the original async tool and should be treated as a business tool, not a filing cabinet or to-do list. When email comes in, read it, take action, and archive it, then get out. Turn off notifications and stop wasting time stuck in email.

Let’s talk email.
Do you know email was the original async tool? It is the original async tool. It just works. It’s a method of just sending a message and not waiting for that notification to see whether they’ve read it, whether they’re online. I hate that.
There’s a lot of companies that do like that, and I just don’t understand it. Sorry, I’ve got an itch.
But email is a fantastic tool, and it’s so… unused, underused, I should say, not unused. People use it, but they don’t always know how to get the best out of it. People use it as a filing cabinet. People have millions of folders or tags and then they get lost in it.
Your email shouldn’t be your to-do list. Your email, I’ve said this a million times and I’ll say it again, your email should be coming in, you read it, you take action on it, and then you archive it. You don’t need another folder as in follow up or next. You don’t need a I will deal with this later. You don’t need a folder for Phyllis from accounting. You don’t need all of these complicated things. It comes in, you deal with it, and then you get out, get out of it.
If you look at my email inbox, there’s nothing in it. There’s absolutely nothing in it. There’s nothing in it. I can’t. There’s nothing there. Because I don’t want to be beholden to another. tool.
I mean, you already have things that you need to do. Email is kind of a business tool. I spoke about work tools and business tools. I think it was yesterday. So there are business tools and work tools. Your email should be a business tool. You get in, get out.
You shouldn’t be stuck in email. You should be stuck in your work tool, which is whether it’s a CRM or project management tool or a to do list or anything like that. But being stuck, in an email is not a great thing.
Also turn off all your notifications for email. Don’t have any notifications. Again, it’s an async tool. You go there to get the information you need. Pull that information out and then put that into your work tool, CRM, etc., etc. And there are many tools out there to help you with this, by the way. It’s not just you’re left to your own devices.
So if you need any help with that, there will be a link below. Let’s have a chat. And I’m sure I’ll be able to help you out because you’re We’re wasting way too much time on email, and you know you are.
Anyway, have a great day. I’ll see you in the next one. Ciao.
